Chapman Estate Fund Donations

The City of Pismo Beach established a fund to account for tax deductable donations made for the planning, maintenance, and improvement of the Chapman Estate.

Establishment of this fund provides an opportunity to make donations that will be used by the City solely for the Chapman Estate. Persons donating funds to the City for this purpose can receive the benefit of a tax deduction*.

“Clifford Chapman and Don Shidler have given the City of Pismo Beach the most generous gift; the gift of their home. It is their wish that this exceptional property be available to the community and be used to support the arts, education for children, the gay community and the needs of those less fortunate. The City is privileged to be trusted to see that those wishes are fulfilled.” said Shelly Higginbotham, Pismo Beach Mayor.

At its December 3, 2013 meeting the Pismo Beach City Council voted unanimously to accept Mr. Chapman’s gracious gift of the Chapman Estate to the City of Pismo Beach. In doing so, it directed the City Manager and City Attorney to take all steps necessary to transfer the title of the Chapman Estate to the City. Those efforts are now underway.

“Clifford Chapman was a very generous person as evidenced by the gift of his beloved house and gardens to the City of Pismo Beach. He was the guardian of the property for many years, and he put his trust in the local community to carry on his stewardship. We can all help preserve and improve this treasure by contributing to the Chapman Estate Fund.” said Katchy Andrews, Shell Beach Improvement Group President.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution can do so by making checks payable to the City of Pismo Beach, 760 Mattie Road, 93449; please write Chapman Estate Fund Donation in the memo.

"Please give generously to help us protect and preserve this magnificent estate for the enrichment of our community." said Ed Waage, Pismo Beach Mayor Pro Tem.

This is a unique opportunity to support the City‘s efforts to plan for, maintain, and upgrade the buildings and grounds of this unique coastal property - that will soon belong to all the citizens of Pismo Beach.
