As an Elections Official, the City Clerk
administers Federal, State and Local procedures through which local government representatives are elected. The City Clerk assists candidates in meeting their legal responsibilities before, during and after an election. , the City Clerk manages the process which forms the foundation of our democratic system of government.
The City Council consists of five members elected at-large on a nonpartisan basis. Elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years.
Terms of Office
- Mayor serves for a Full Term of two (2) years.
- Councilmembers serve for a Full Term of four (4) years.
The City of Pismo Beach has a Council-Manager form of government. Voters elect the City Council
to serve as the policy-making board of the City. The Council, in turn, appoints a City Manager
to administer these policies.
The City Council serves as a legislative body, enacting ordinances, orders and resolutions necessary for governing Pismo Beach and deemed important by the public.
In addition to their representation of the citizens of Pismo Beach and their vote at City Council meetings, Council members are appointed to various sub-committees during their terms in office.
The Pismo Beach City Council holds regular meetings
at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
