Dinosaur Caves and Spyglass Parks Playground Renovation
On September 18, 2018 City Council authorized the purchase of playground equipment for both Dinosaur Caves Park and Spyglass Park. The new playground design will enhance the current park environments, while providing safe and challenging play and community building opportunities for residents and visitors. On November 6, 2018 a contract was awarded to Central Coast Playgrounds for the Dinosaur Caves and Spyglass Parks Playground Renovation Project.
The existing play equipment at Dinosaur Caves Park consists primarily of passive equipment (concrete statues) and does not encourage active play. This project will add move active equipment to the current playground that will be physically and mentally challenging and will increase the playability of the park for all ages.
The current equipment at Spyglass Park was installed in 1995 and is geared only toward children ages two-to-five. This project with replace the equipment with newer, safer equipment usable for children both ages two-to-five and ages five-to-twelve.
The contractor is finishing up work at Dinosaur Caves Park and a ribbon cutting celebration is scheduled for Thursday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. See the invitation graphic below!
Work will begin at Spyglass Park starting Monday, March 4, 2019 and is expected to last several weeks, weather permitting.
