9. How do I become a volunteer for the City of Pismo Beach?

Volunteer opportunities exist in many areas of the City including the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Recreation Department. Every effort to help is appreciated, but we are particularly in need of volunteers who are able to work a set schedule on a regular basis. If you would like to volunteer for the City, please contact the Department in which you are interested.

Another way to volunteer for the City is by serving on a board or commission. Please contact the City Clerk’s office at (805) 773-7003 to learn about current vacancies.

10. What is the weather like at Pismo Beach?

Temperatures range year round from the high 50’s to the high 70’s. Gusty afternoon wind and morning coastal fog are prevalent in the spring and summer months.

11. There is an injured marine animal on the beach, who do I contact?

12. What is the Home Improvement Program and how can I apply?

A home improvement grant program for low to moderate income homeowners has been established by the Pismo Beach Redevelopment Agency. Many minor home improvements can be achieved with the program for homeowners, including mobile homes. 13. Can ashes of a loved one be scattered at Pismo Beach?

It is unlawful to scatter human ashes within the City of Pismo Beach. Scattering of ashes need to be made 3 miles out to sea. There are private charters who service the Pacific Coast area including Pismo Beach, Avila Beach and Morro Bay who offer sea burial service to the public.

14. How do I safely dispose of my home generated needles and syringes?

San Luis Obispo County IWMA has instituted a mandatory "Take-Back Sharps" ordinance that requires any pharmacy inside the county that sells sharps to take them back from the public for FREE. With help of grant funding, we supply local pharmacies with sharps containers to give out FREE to the public. Currently, there are 44 pharmacy drop-off locations found throughout the County. 15. How can I dispose of Latex Paint?

Thanks to a new mandatory ordinance, there has been some changes to the latex paint recycling program in San Luis Obispo County. Residents can now take back leftover latex paint to any location that sells paint for free recycling and disposal. Latex Paint Retail Take Back Locations
